Revolutionary Device Supports Closed Circuit Ventilation

The BayWin Closed Circuit Valve allows the user to switch between mechanical and manual ventilation and perform patient care tasks (i.e., suctioning, bronchoscopy) without disconnecting the ventilator circuit.

One Simple Device to Improve Ventilated Patient Care

Ventilator Circuit Disconnections put Patients and Caregivers at Risk

Unlike standard valved adapters, the BayWin Closed Circuit Valve includes a Resuscitation Bag Port to transition to manual ventilation (e.g., transport or resuscitation) and an Elbow Adapter with an integrated, valved Suction/Bronchoscopy Port, allowing access for performing patient care tasks such as   in-line suction/flush, bronchoscopy, medication delivery or pulmonary function tests, without disconnecting the ventilatory circuit.

How The BayWin Closed Circuit Valve Works

Breaking the ventilator circuit can expose clinical staff to infectious agents released from within the circuit and may create loss of positive end expiratory pressure in patients, that may lead to complications like alveolar collapse and ventilator-associated pneumonia.

The BayWin Closed Circuit Valve helps reduce the need to disconnect the ventilator circuit. The central, patented feature of the Baywin Closed Circuit Valve is the integrated valve that seamlessly transitions between mechanical ventilation and manual or transport ventilation without disconnecting the ventilator circuit.

When the mechanical ventilator is connected, the resuscitation bypass port is automatically kept closed. When a resuscitation bag is connected, the valve is automatically repositioned and airflow is directed from the resuscitation bag to the patient.

Removing the resuscitation bag re-directs airflow from the mechanical ventilator to the patient. In addition, the BayWin Closed Circuit Valve also includes a built-in adapter that facilitates common procedures like suction and bronchoscopy without disconnecting the ventilator circuit.

Connection of a transport ventilator to The BayWin Closed Circuit Valve automatically repositions the valve in the same way to seamlessly prepare the patient for transport without having to disconnect the ventilator circuit.

The Experts Agree

Closed Circuit Ventilation Is Essential

"When dealing with mechanical ventilation and the respiratory circuit, there are several concerns that need to be considered. By disconnecting the respiratory circuit we not only increase the risk of endotracheal tube and lower respiratory tract contamination, which may increase the risk of healthcare/ventilator associated pneumonia, but it also exposes the healthcare team to infectious agents. I believe the BayWin Closed Circuit Valve provides a way to deliver bag ventilation without disconnecting the endotracheal tube from the ventilator circuit. "
Anthony J. Hericks, D.O.
Pulmonologist, Sleep Physician, Intensivist
"We believe that the management of patients with highly infectious conditions on ventilators will greatly benefit from therapy provided with a closed ventilator circuit."
Dr. Harry Bayron, MD
Baywin Closed Circuit Valve Inventor
“It is critical to avoid opening the ventilator circuit at all costs to prevent infection, loss of lung recruitment and reduce the chance for ventilator associated pneumonia. With current ventilator accessories, opening the circuit is frequently required to perform necessary procedures for the patient like bronchoscopy, suctioning, transport and resuscitation, so this remains an important issue. It would be ideal to have a respiratory valve within the circuit that allows for these common and necessary procedures to be performed while maintaining a closed circuit.”
